Preservation Planning LLC is a full-service historic preservation
planning firm. We research, document, analyze and ultimately help protect
historic resources and our cultural landscape. Our firm serves a variety of clients,
including municipalities, engineers, architects, historical societies, and owners of
historic resources.
The firm was founded in 1997 by Robert J. Wise Jr., who has 20 years
of experience in the historic preservation field. He is assisted by Seth Hinshaw,
Senior Planner, who has been with the firm since 2001. Both planners have M.S.
degrees in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania and
exceed the 36 CFR 61 Professional Qualification Standards established by the
National Park Service for architectural historians.

Overview |
Historic Structure Reports provide a detailed documentation of
a historic building. The two main sections are a property history with information
on the building campaigns and the architectural description. HSRs provide more
detailed information than a National Register nomination. Common elements of the
report include measured floorplans, photographs detailing key architectural
features and drawings, and historic maps. The historic component includes a
chain of title, history of the property, and documentation on the construction
of the various buildings (as applicable). HSRs also usually include recommendations
for the building's future (if appropriate) and a physical
condition analysis.
Wise Preservation Planning LLC has completed HSRs on such diverse resources
as the Sears Catalog House on the Immaculata College campus, Malvern, Pa.; the historic Kuerner
Farm (site of Andrew Wyeth's Helga series of paintings and many others); the Taylor/Frazer Ruins,
an important archeological site; and "The Pines," also known as the William
Gillingham House (a documented Underground Railroad site).
Some municipalities may require a historic structure report to document buildings
prior to demolition or as part of the restoration and/or interpretative
planning process.
