Overview |
Historic Property Brochures can be vital informational, public awareness,
or marketing tools that convey the highlights of a property's history or architecture.
Such brochures can serve a variety of purposes. Wise has crafted brochures to simply
increase awareness about a property’s significance. Other pieces have been designed to
help interpret a property, serve as a fundraising tool, or to attract visitors for use
and rental purposes. Brochures are colorful yet inexpensive ways of conveying
information on the history or architectural significance of a property.
In 2008, Wise drafted a historic property brochure for Evian, a farmhouse built
c. 1750 in West Whiteland Township.
The surrounding farmland was developed in the late 20th century, at which time
the Evian farmhouse was retained for a community center. The oversight
committee approached Wise to create a brochure to increase awareness
of Evian, its amenities, and its availability for events. The brochure,
which is available here in pdf form, provides an
overview of the property's history and the extent of the facilities.
| Joseph Oat Corporation / Castings
Condominium | |
In 2010, Wise completed a property brochure for the Castings Condominium,
located in the historic Joseph Oat Corporation building in Philadelphia.
The image to the left is a lithograph advertisement for the company
that was produced 150 years ago. Joseph Oat, one of the premier
coppersmiths in the nation in the early 19th century, purchased this
building in the 1820s. Later in the 19th century, the company began
producing cast iron and steel products and greatly enlarged the building
for its operations until it occupied most of its city block. When the
company needed even more space in the 1970s, it relocated
to larger facilities in New Jersey,
and soon thereafter the historic building was converted into
condos. Many vestiges of the company remain in and around the building.
Wise produced a brochure that provides a summary overview of the history
of the company and the building. The brochure will be used by residents as
an informational brochure and will be used for marketing.
